Sendai

The 2011 Tohoku earthquake ruptured the Japan Trench 130 km offshore and sent a tsunami across the Sendai plain that reached several kilometres inland; the Nagamachi-Rifu fault runs through the city itself.

The event table on this page lists every earthquake recorded inside the felt radius of Sendai, newest first, with its distance from the city centre and its magnitude. The top row is therefore the most recent event, and the list updates as soon as a reporting agency publishes a solution.
