Volcano Tengger (Bromo)

The smoking cone of Bromo rises from the 'sea of sand' inside the Tengger caldera in East Java, one of Indonesia's most visited landscapes. Small ash eruptions are common, and the crater rim where tourists and Tenggerese pilgrims gather for the Yadnya Kasada festival lies only a few hundred metres from the vent.
